Present Form of the Verb BE

We use the verb “be” to describe things, when we talk about what something is and how it is in the present time. We use it with nouns and adjectives.
Affirmative:

With adjectives:
The chair is blue.
She is pretty.
The earth is round.
The girl is blonde.
We are tired.
Are they married? -Yes, they are.
With nouns:
This is a chair.
She is a woman.
It's the earth.
She is a girl.
They are mountain climbers.
Are they a couple? -Yes, they are.
I’m a fireman.
They are students.
Johnny Depp is an actor.
With jobs:
Jennifer is a scientist.
Bob and Jim are astronauts.
We are nurses.
